Happy Birthday Caitlyn!!!
Well, I finally got the glitch fixed with uploading pictures, SO the world doesn't have to wait any longer to meet Caitlyn Renee. Of course, you might have already seen her at www.gobigblueband.com/crjones
So, lets rewind to Saturday afternoon: Area Marching Contest and the biggest marching band performance of the year. Bethany came with us and even found the energy to tune our soloists. We had a great performance and Bethany went out to eat dinner with my parents and John Mays. About 4:45, she called and made it clear that it was time to come home! I did and John was EXTREMELY excited to see me arrive. We called the doctor and decided to wait it out at home for a bit. Bethany was having fairly frequent contractions, but around 6 pm it all ground to a halt and Bethany announced "contractions over, lets rent some movies." SO, I rented Click (wouldn't recommend it) and we started watching it. All of the sudden, Bethany let me know that it was time to start timing contractions again. Around 10 pm, we decided it might be time to head for the hospital.
They admitted Bethany at 10:45 pm and I had to go to the other end of the hospital to turn in our paperwork. As I returned from this adventure, I got there just in time to hear the doctor announce that "this baby will probably be here within the hour." After I picked myself up off of the floor, we got ready for Caitlyn to come!
At 12:56 AM on Sunday, October 29, 2006 Caitlyn came into the world with the hard work of Bethany and the skilled hands of the on-call doctor, Dr. Webster. She was 7 pounds, 4 ounces and 19 inches long. It was so AMAZING. They immediately placed her on Bethany and I got to cut the cord! I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to handle the delivery but I was thankful that it was actually all completely fascinating!! I didn't feel sick and was excited to cut the cord.
Here is one of the first family photos: (Bethany was so strong and still looks FANTASTIC -- but a bit tired...)
They let us stay and visit in the delivery room for about an hour and a half after the delivery and then I got to follow her to the admission's nursery. It was interesting to see all of the different things they do to test her and prep her.
Then at about 3:30 in the morning, we were moved to a post-op room where we spent the next two days. We tried to get a bit of rest, but it was funny...every time we were going to sleep, I would hear a noise and wake to see Bethany holding Caitlyn. Needless to say, we didn't get much rest, but it was FUN!
The next morning, it was time to greet a steady stream of excited visitors.....
